pH - The pH value in water is one of the most important criteria in the balance between acids and bases. If this balance suddenly changes, fish, microorganisms and plants react extremely sensitively to it. The ideal pH value should therefore be between 6.5 and 8.5, depending on the species of fish being kept.

KH - The carbonate hardness (KH) acts as a pH buffer and prevents a sudden drop in the pH value in the water. The KH value influences the health of fish, plants and, above all, the important microorganisms. The ideal KH value for ornamental fish is between 3 and 10° dH.

GH - The total hardness (GH) of the water is formed by the concentration of various ions, such as magnesium and calcium. The GH value influences the health of fish, plants and, above all, the important microorganisms. The best GH value for ornamental fish is between 6 and 16° dH.

Nitrite - Nitrogenous, organic substances, caused by food residues and fish excrement among other things and broken down in the water in various stages, lead to harmful decomposition products in the water. A nitrite content of more than 0.3 mg per liter is harmful to your aquarium or pond fish in the long term and promotes algae growth.

Nitrate - Although nitrate is beneficial for plant growth, too much nitrate in the aquarium or pond water becomes harmful to your aquarium or pond fish at levels above 50 mg per liter and algae growth can increase uncontrollably.

Chlorine - Provides important information about the chlorine content of the water. A value that is too high is harmful to the beneficial bacteria and consequently also to the well-being of your aquarium or pond fish.
