Calcium or magnesium levels that are too low can significantly impair coral growth and prevent the formation of decorative red calcareous algae. Regular monitoring helps maintain optimal conditions in the saltwater system.
Recommended values for saltwater aquariums:
Calcium (Ca): 400 – 440 mg/l
Magnesium (Mg): 1,200 – 1,400 mg/l
