Water analysis via smartphone - the new generation

Note: The test strip is only suitable for one measurement at a time. Repeated scanning of the strip leads to different values as the strip continues to react.

When carrying out the "Aquarium freshwater" and "Water" analysis, the current CO2 content in the water is calculated as a bonus. Depending on the analysis result in the "Aquarium fresh water" and "Garden pond" areas, specific solution recommendations and advice are provided on which JBL products can be used to support the ideal/optimal water values.

How accurate is this measurement method?
Since smartphones perform an automatic white balance, the color reading is more accurate than when we compare colors with our eyes! If the test is carried out correctly, the result is absolutely reliable. For the nitrite result, it has proven to be a good idea to re-measure with a drop test (JBL PROAQUATEST NO2 Nitrite) if the JBL ProScan result does NOT show 0, as this value must be 100% reliable (nitrite is lethally toxic to fish from 0.4 mg/l).

Possible errors when carrying out the test:
When removing the test strip from the water, it must not be shaken off vertically, as the wet colors will then run into the other color fields. It must be dripped off CAREFULLY and carefully. Without dripping, the drops on the color patches reflect the light too strongly and lead to inaccurate results.
Ideally, daylight should be used when photographing the test strip on the color chart. However, it is even more important that the incidence of light is even and not partly shadow and partly sun. Then the colors of the color chart would be illuminated differently.
