KERALIT Hoof Bath Vet
If your horse suffers from rotting processes in the hoof, such as white line disease, hollow wall, hoof abscesses, sole defects, horn columns or thrush, the Hufbad-Vet from KERALIT is the right solution.
The hoof bath is an active ingredient concentrate that has been specially developed to treat these problems. Hufbad-Vet penetrates deep into the horn and combats pathogens that cause rotting processes.
Application:
To obtain a ready-to-use solution, the concentrate must be dissolved in water.
Concentration approx. 5 %, i.e. 5 grams of concentrate per 100 ml of water.
The total quantity of the preparation depends on the container in which the hoof is bathed.
The visibly damaged hoof areas should be below the liquid level, as the damage is usually much more extensive than is visible.
The solution can be used either in a treatment shoe or in a rubber bucket:
-
In the treatment shoe approx. 250-500 ml
-
In a rubber bucket approx. 1000-2000 ml
Directions for use:
The hoof bath is intended only for severe hoof damage. The affected hoof should stand directly in the liquid so that the solution can penetrate cracks and cavities. In cases of severe damage, a simple soaked dressing is not sufficient. Ideally, a hoof treatment boot should be used, as it allows the hoof to remain properly immersed in the solution.
Composition:
The hoof bath contains various water-soluble tanning agents, including tannins derived from oak bark. These alter the protein structure on the surface of the hoof horn and create a buffered acidic environment. This helps inhibit the activity of microorganisms that break down the hoof horn and contributes to stabilising the damaged horn.
