Protects against uninvited animals at the pond and in the garden
Colored fish in a clear pond are easy prey for herons. In the spring, herons are searching for food for their young. In the summer, once the young herons have fledged, they stand at the water’s edge themselves to fish. In the fall, food sources for herons are limited, and pond fish become easy prey.

Fish are the heron’s main food source, but its long beak can also inflict life-threatening injuries on larger specimens. Once a heron has succeeded, it will return until the pond is completely emptied of fish.

The Laser Guard’s motion sensor detects approaching intruders and has a range of approx. 12 m at a 100° angle.

It is highly effective against herons and other birds in three different ways:

1. Flashing lights with variable frequencies make the environment uncomfortably unsettling. 
2. Herons perceive the green laser beams as dangerous, moving obstacles.
3. The sound of a fellow bird in distress, barking dogs, and the terrifying calls of a deadly poison dart frog finally scare the heron away.
4. This deterrent method takes approx. 60 seconds each time; the frightened intruders will flee, so that the fish in the pond are safe again.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: LASER GUARD

The Laser Guard’s motion sensor detects approaching intruders and immediately emits bright flashes of light, green laser beams, and, optionally, deterrent sounds. Even before the heron lands on the pond’s edge, it will flee in fear, and the fish in the pond will be safe.

The flashes of light and laser beams create enough disturbance at the pond that, if desired, the sounds can be turned off using the dial on top of the Laser Guard.
Because herons quickly get used to deterrent methods, there are various models available. Other animals that try to
approach the pond will also be driven away (such as cats).

INSTALLATION

• Slide the two tube sections together and tighten the screw.
• Place the device on the pond bank by inserting the tube into the ground.
• Aim the unit at the spot where you expect herons to appear. With its large wingspan, the heron prefers to approach the pond over open terrain. It first lands on the roof of a house or barn before heading toward the shallow water. Keep this in mind when setting up the Laser Guard. The motion sensor has a range of approx. 12 m at a 100° angle.
• The first time you use it, the sensor must be calibrated in daylight.
• Set the rotary knob on top of the Laser Guard to OFF and plug the power adapter into the outlet. While the LED light is flashing, the surroundings are being measured to calibrate the sensor.
• THERE MUST BE NO MOVEMENT WHATSOEVER WITHIN THE SENSOR’S RANGE!
• Select ON or MUTE and the LED will remain lit. The Laser Guard is then ready to respond within the detection area. When movement is detected, the LED will flash rapidly, followed by a flash of laser beams and, if enabled, a deterrent sound will be heard in a 60-second cycle.
• For optimal performance of the system, clean the sensor regularly. If the Laser Guard does not respond (properly) to movement in the detection area, calibrate the sensor by unplugging the power adapter from the outlet and plugging it back in after 1 minute.
• Herons are not active at night. The Laser Guard automatically shuts off in the dark to prevent overuse of the device. At dawn, the system automatically becomes active again. The LED light indicates when the device is in operation.

PLEASE NOTE
The Laser Guard may activate at dusk and dawn. The system turns on automatically at dawn and turns off again at dusk. To prevent unnecessary activation of the Laser Guard, ensure there are no large branches or other moving vegetation within the motion detector’s detection area.

Do not point the device at people. Inform people in your vicinity, especially children, about how the Laser Guard works. Aside from causing a startle reaction, the Laser Guard is safe for humans and animals.

SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS Ensure a properly grounded and dry power connection with a circuit breaker rated at 30 mA. If the device, transformer, or cable is damaged, the device must no longer be used.
When working in or around the pond, all electrical devices must be turned off. This also applies to the Laser Guard. The Laser Guard is intended exclusively for vertical placement next to a pond. Any other use is prohibited by the manufacturer.
