• Between the 4th and 12th week of life, during the "immunological gap", the puppy's immune system is not yet fully developed. At this stage of life, the immune protection that the puppy has acquired through the mother's antibodies decreases, while at the same time the puppy's own antibodies are not yet sufficiently formed.
• During the long growth phase, a controlled supply of energy should be provided to ensure a harmonious bone structure. Overweight should be avoided as it would put too much strain on the joints.
• The Golden Retriever's digestive system is particularly sensitive in the first few months of life. Its energy requirements are increased at this age, so the food must be highly digestible so as not to overload the stomach.
• The skin and coat are the puppy's first natural defense against infections. A needs-based diet helps to strengthen the coat and protect the sensitive skin.
