Before neutering, the cat's metabolism is adjusted to a diet with an almost constant energy content. The cat only eats until its energy requirements are met. After neutering, this natural regulation process is lost - the cat eats more than it needs, which quickly leads to obesity.
- Just 48 hours after neutering, your cat's food intake increases by 20 %, while its energy requirements fall by approx. 30 % at the same time.
- Urinary stones are more common in sterilized cats, especially if they are overweight, as they usually drink less and therefore pass less urine.
Controlled energy intake
Contains less fat as an energy source and reduced amounts of carbohydrate sources such as starch, which can increase the feeling of hunger.
