The SureSense Microchip Reader from Sure Petcare is a new generation of microchip identification with an integrated temperature biosensor. The device makes it possible to read the temperature* AND the identification number of your pet at the same time, provided that a temperature-sensitive microchip (thermochip) has been inserted. The reader reads all FDX-A, FDX-B, Trovan and AVID microchip numbers. The device is powered by 2 AA batteries (not included!) Perfect performance is guaranteed with Duracell brand batteries. Rechargeable batteries are not recommended for this device) and indicates when the battery level is low. It is very compact and lightweight and emits a silent vibrating alarm when it has successfully read a chip.

*Important note: The device can only read your pet's temperature if a special thermochip has been inserted! If a standard microchip has been inserted, the device can "only" read the chip number. At this point, we would also like to point out that a rectal thermometer is preferable for a very accurate measurement, as the special thermochip indicates the temperature in its immediate vicinity, which is less accurate than if the temperature is measured with a conventional thermometer.

Why is it important to know my pet's temperature range?

Knowing your pet's normal temperature range means that persistent readings outside this range (either too high or too low) may be abnormal and a sign of illness. This will allow you to see a vet in time to detect illness.

Body temperature can rise and fall for many reasons, including the temperature of the environment your pet is in. However, persistent deviations from the normal range may mean that your pet is not well, and the sooner this is detected, the sooner your pet can be treated.

Track daily temperature fluctuations

Until recently, the temperature of pets was usually taken with a rectal thermometer. Some pets find this uncomfortable and it is impractical to take multiple readings throughout the day to track their temperature. For regular monitoring and to track basic fluctuations or sudden changes, this reader (temperature measurement only works in conjunction with a special microchip!) is ideal. For a single and very precise measurement, a normal thermometer (rectal) is preferable.
