Which dogs must wear a muzzle?
Even if there is no uniform regulation, some breeds are almost always required to wear a muzzle. These dog breeds must wear a muzzle:
These are Rottweiler, Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Pitbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier as well as Tosa Inu. In general, the wearing of a muzzle is regulated by the canton.
If you observe aggressive behavior in your dog towards other dogs or people, you should not wait until an incident occurs. It shows a sense of responsibility if you assess your dog's behavior realistically and protect your environment by wearing a muzzle. It also protects your dog. Aggressive behavior towards other dogs can be life-threatening, especially for small dogs.
If your dog bites a person, this can have very unpleasant consequences, so it is better to take precautions with a muzzle.
And you should remember: the most frequent victims of dog bites are children. Even a miniature spitz can bring a small child down and injure their neck or face.
Even if your dog is not aggressive, but very exuberant and rowdy, a muzzle can also be useful to prevent injury from your dog
Another reason for a muzzle is a visit to the vet. For most dogs, the stress starts when they recognize the way to the surgery. If the dog is also in pain, even a soul of dog can no longer be guaranteed. The same applies to other stressful exceptional situations. The muzzle is a short-term necessity. However, your dog should not wear it for the first time in such a situation. This will only cause him additional stress.
Muzzles are sometimes compulsory abroad. Please find out about the regulations that apply there before traveling abroad.
Plastic muzzles are available in eight sizes:
