Elevated nitrate levels (NO₃⁻) are among the most common causes of algae growth and deteriorating water quality in freshwater and saltwater aquariums as well as ornamental ponds.

With Tetra Test NO₃⁻, you can measure nitrate levels precisely and reliably. The test helps maintain a stable, healthy balance in the aquatic environment and detect problems early on. Regular, ideally weekly, testing is crucial to prevent complications.

Nitrate (NO₃⁻) is formed as the end product of the nitrogen cycle when ammonia and nitrite are broken down by beneficial bacteria. In small amounts, nitrate is harmless and even serves as a nutrient for plants. However, levels above 50 mg/l can stress ornamental fish and significantly promote algae growth.

With Tetra Test NO3⁻, you can easily check whether your water parameters are within the safe range (0–100 mg/l). The clear color scale allows for quick and easy reading of the results.

Thanks to its excellent long-term stability, the test kit is suitable for numerous precise measurements and continuous monitoring of water quality.

If nitrate levels are elevated, it is recommended to perform regular partial water changes and remove organic waste such as uneaten food or dead plants.
