Trixie wooden mouse enclosure

This Trixie enclosure made of untreated wood and Plexiglas is easy to assemble and provides a good view of the small furry inhabitants. The lid can be opened from above and climbing elements (only for mice, too dangerous for hamsters!) can be hung from the metal grille. As the walls are not made of bars, the risk of injury from climbing up them is also minimized. (Wooden enclosures with (plexi) glass and glass terrariums are always preferable to mesh cages, especially for hamsters)

The front elements can be opened for easy cleaning and feeding. The lower front element is extra high and thus allows for high bedding, which is very important for both hamsters and mice to satisfy their need to dig. The different levels allow for varied furnishings.

Note: Due to the levels and the resulting high drop height, we recommend this enclosure primarily for mice and not for hamsters. When keeping hamsters, generally ensure a low fall height of max. 10 cm, as hamsters are poor climbers and like to simply drop and are not good at judging heights. If you still want to use this enclosure for your hamster, we recommend that you carry out some manual modifications, i.e. remove most of the levels and only use the entrance from above so that you can litter at least 30 cm deep.

We do not primarily recommend keeping hamsters in this enclosure, but if you do, then please only keep 1 hamster per enclosure (hamsters are solitary animals and can injure or even kill each other if kept together).
