SivoMixx - naturally healthy

The high-dose bacterial strains contained in SivoMixx (especially specific lactobacilli and bifidobacteria in extremely high concentrations) do not have specific authorization as a feed additive in the EU and Switzerland. Therefore, they may no longer be sold as a pet product.
As an alternative, we recommend:

  • Sineomixx –  High-Dose Probiotics for a Balanced Gut Microbiota in Humans and Animals
  • Protexin Synbiotic DC: Contains highly concentrated pre- and probiotics (E. faecium), is very well tolerated, and easy to dose.
  • Vetplus Sustain: A newer product that combines two strains (E. faecium & B. subtilis) and is often used for more complex gastrointestinal problems (such as IBD). Contains additional prebiotics, beta-glucans, and B vitamins.
  • Purina Pro Plan Fortiflora: Very palatable, contains only 1 bacterial strain (E. faecium). Available with or without additional prebiotics.

Stress, the use of antibiotics, or dietary changes can lead to intestinal and digestive problems. SivoMixx provides support through live and active bacteria from 8 specific strains to restore the balance of the gut flora, especially after taking antibiotics or during the subsequent recovery phase. However, promoting the gut flora is also beneficial for gastrointestinal infections, diarrhea, flatulence, or allergies.

A healthy gut flora strengthens the immune system against infections. A well-functioning gut flora and a healthy intestinal mucosa are crucial for supporting digestion and serve as an important mechanical barrier. This intestinal barrier's task is to displace harmful germs and viruses. This makes it more difficult for pathogens to attach themselves to the intestinal wall or even enter the bloodstream.

You will currently no longer find the product SivoMixx in our range for animals.

Why is it no longer available?
It is a legal technicality. In Switzerland and the EU, there are strict rules regarding which bacterial strains may be officially registered as a "feed additive." The specific strains in SivoMixx (lactobacilli & bifidobacteria) do not currently have this specific veterinary legal registration – even though they have been used safely for years and remain fully approved for human use.

The product was not taken off the market due to a lack of quality or intolerances, but because the formal paperwork (registration as animal feed) is missing.

For acute digestive issues, the alternatives listed above are excellent choices. For more complex, chronic complaints, we ask you to briefly discuss the next steps and the appropriate product selection with your veterinarian.
