SUSTAIN® contains:
Enterococcus faecium is one of only two registered probiotics for dogs that has been proven to inhibit the growth of pathogens (e.g. clostridia).
E. faecium is a natural and commensal bacterium that competes with pathogens for nutrients and receptors and can positively influence the immune system of dogs.
Orally administered E. faecium in young dogs has been shown to increase the production of IgA, which is the predominant immunoglobulin within the gastrointestinal mucosa.
Bacillus subtilis is the second newly registered probiotic for dogs, which is now exclusively included in SUSTAIN®. This probiotic can tolerate even extreme environments by forming a protective endospore that allows it to survive, for example, in the low pH of gastric acid. B. subtilis also forms an optimal anaerobic environment that supports the growth of beneficial lactobacilli within the microbiota. In addition, it has been shown to improve the odor and consistency of dog faeces.
MacroGard® is a unique beta-glucan. This immunomodulating molecule has been shown to be beneficial for dogs with IBD and atopic dermatitis, and can also support the immune response to vaccinations.
As a fructooligosaccharide,inulin is a prebiotic that promotes the production of short-chain fatty acids by the microbiota. These short-chain fatty acids are essential for the health and metabolism of colonocytes. Inulin has also been shown to help fight bacterial infections.
L-threonine is important for a physiological digestive tract. B vitamins are important for the metabolism of enterocytes and immune cells. Zinc amino acid chelate is important for energy metabolism, immune cell function and mucosal integrity
The sachets should be given at feeding time either all at once or divided between the dog's daily meals. Lukewarm water can be added to aid mixing
