Super Hoof Pellets Plus has been formulated to provide essential nutrients scientifically proven to be important for the growth and maintenance of healthy and strong hooves.

Since the 1980's it has been recognized that biotin plays an important role in the growth of new hoof horn, which is produced from special keratinized cells that form tubules from the coronary band to the base of the hoof wall.
The researchers found that supplemental biotin (20g for a 500kg horse and up to 30g for a 600kg+ horse) led to an improvement in the growth of new horn (but had little effect on already poor quality or damaged horn), with positive results noted on the coronary band.

Further research has shown the importance of sulphur in the formation of the double bonds that secure the tubules to maintain a strong and healthy hoof wall. Bioavailable sulphur is provided from both sulphur-containing amino acids, including methionine, and MSM (methylsulphonylmethane) in Super Hoof Plus pellets.

Key minerals such as zinc, copper and manganese also play an important role in hoof quality and are included in Super Hoof Plus pellets from both organic and inorganic sources to ensure optimum bioavailability.

It is increasingly recognized that the role of the gut microbiome plays an important part in many areas of metabolic health, including the production of strong, healthy hooves. The inclusion of a probiotic helps to ensure gut health, which in turn supports hoof health.

The inclusion of vitamins C and E and a potent blend of herbal antioxidants, including rosehips, along with milk thistle and dandelion helps to support the liver and immune system, which are vital for both health and well-being, including hoof growth. Horses suffering from a disease or metabolic disorder such as laminitis often show 'rings' on their hooves, indicating a disruption to healthy hoof growth or disease.

Remember that although a new, stronger horn will be visible from the coronary band after a few weeks, it usually takes between 8 and 12 months for the hoof wall to be fully replaced.

Biotin is included at 30mg per 100g to support high quality horn growth from the coronet band to the base of the hoof wall.

• Antioxidants from vitamins C and E and phytochemicals from rosehips and peppermint help to neutralize harmful free radicals and support the immune system.
• Extracts from milk thistle and dandelion support the liver and the immune system to ensure optimum health and thus also the production and quality of the hoof horn.

Dosage : For horses weighing 500 - 650 kg: 100 g per day.
