Biotin, also known as vitamin H, has an essential function as a co-enzyme in the metabolism. Biotin is significantly involved in the formation of hoof keratins. These sulphur-containing proteins form the main mass of horn substance such as hoof horn and hair. A biotin deficiency leads to hoof damage, sparse hair growth, a deterioration in the general condition and the skin.
