Does your dog have kidney problems and needs to be fed a low-phosphorus diet?

Chronic Renal insufficiency (CNI) is one of the most frequently diagnosed diseases in dogs. The most common causes include age-related wear and tear, late effects of previous illnesses such as diabetes mellitus, heart disease and immune deficiency, e.g. in diseases such as leishmaniasis.

Often, however, no underlying disease can be identified.
The disease leads to progressive destruction of the kidney tissue, which is why it is particularly important to recognize the disease in good time, e.g. through regular blood tests at the vet.
However, the progression of CKD can usually be slowed down to such an extent that a good quality of life can be maintained for a long time with timely and comprehensive treatment by a vet and a consistent diet with a protein intake that is low in phosphorus in particular and covers requirements (excessive protein intake should be avoided).
The disease progresses in different stages and from stage II your vet will recommend reducing the phosphate content in your dog's diet.

• Higher energy density - necessary, as the lack of appetite that CNI dogs develop means that they eat little and would therefore lose weight if the energy density of the food was low.

The "Menü Spezial -Rind" is produced by hand in a Bavarian factory. It is filled cold and raw and gently cooked - so the vitamins and trace elements it contains are preserved as far as possible. All processed components are suitable and approved for human consumption. The food is very digestible and easy to digest.
