• Hemp is an excellent source of linoleic acid: hemp seeds contain a high proportion of the essential omega-6 fatty acid whose name is linoleic acid (LA). Linoleic acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid and is the most important omega-6 fatty acid for dogs, as it is used to produce other omega-6 fatty acids. As dogs cannot produce it themselves, they must obtain it from their diet. Linoleic acid is also particularly important for the health of a dog's skin and coat, as it makes the skin permeable to water.
