    LILA LOVES IT

Organic dog food from Bavaria for healthy happiness in the bowl
The recipes for LILA LOVES IT wet food menus were developed by the company's own vet in collaboration with highly qualified experts in dog nutrition. To ensure that every batch is of the highest, consistent quality, LILA LOVES IT has the food produced in a trusted organic food production facility in Bavaria.
By maintaining close contact with the manufacturer, LILA LOVES IT can guarantee the regional, ethical origin of all ingredients. Regular quality controls are carried out both internally and through independent, external audits.

The meat for LILA LOVES IT's wet food comes exclusively from certified organic livestock or free-range animals from the region of southern Germany. Organic cattle, organic ducks and organic chickens come from farms that are members of the Biokreis e.V. producer association. This association is even more committed to the welfare of farm animals than the regular organic label, for example with regard to grazing and maximum transportation time. The organic chicken meat also comes from a Bruderhahn Initiative farm. As certain chicken breeds produce very little meat for laying eggs, male chicks are considered worthless by the conventional poultry industry and are brutally killed. The Bruderhahn-Initiative strictly rejects this practice and raises the brothers of laying hens under species-appropriate conditions. Strictly speaking, therefore, there is "organic rooster" in organic chicken.
The lamb meat comes from flocks that are kept as free-grazing landscape gardeners on dykes or in the mountains. In "free farming", the animals live independently in herds in the open air from spring to late fall.
The game meat comes from wild roe deer and Venison. They are shot exclusively by hunters who are members of the ecological hunting association. Meat from free-range and wild animals is not organic, but it is meat from ethical animal husbandry.

Single food, complementary food, Complete food - A little dog food guide
If you read the small print on the packaging of dog food and treats, in addition to the declaration of ingredients and feeding recommendations, you will also find designations such as complete feed, straight feed or supplementary feed. All pet food suppliers are legally obliged to specify the exact type of food. But what do these terms actually mean?

Straight feeding stuffs are all feeds that consist of a single ingredient. Examples of straight feeding stuffs are pure meat cans without any additives, chews such as dried rabbit ears, pure vegetable oils or even fresh carrots. The LILA LOVES IT variety PFERD REINFLEISCH is therefore a straight feeding stuff.
All chews are also straight feeding stuffs. They can be fed individually as such, but only as a snack. In dog nutrition, straight feeding stuffs play a role above all in the preparation of individualized food rations. To cover a dog's entire nutritional requirements, a pure meat Can must be combined with oils, minerals, fruit/vegetables and, ideally, carbohydrates.

In contrast to single feeds, supplementary feeds consist of several ingredients and provide a high content of certain substances (e.g. prebiotics). Supplements can be used to supplement the regular feed if the body has an additional requirement for certain nutrients. Proven feed supplements are, for example, Moro's carrot soup to help with digestive problems or powder mixtures to support the musculoskeletal system. Important: Not all preparations that can be fed in addition to the normal feed portions are supplementary feed within the meaning of the Feedstuffs Ordinance! For example, the elm bark from LILA LOVES IT and the moor tonic are strictly speaking straight feeding stuffs, as the products only consist of a single ingredient.

A complete feed is a feed mixture with at least two individual feed ingredients whose composition covers a dog's daily nutritional requirements. In order to meet the nutritional requirements, a complete dog food must contain a protein source for essential amino acids (e.g. meat) as well as vegetables as a source of fiber, essential fatty acids (e.g. vegetable oils) and additional minerals and vitamins (nutritional additives). Carbohydrates (e.g. potatoes, cereals) provide energy. The five wet food menus from LILA LOVES IT (Game, Lamb, Organic Chicken, Organic Duck, Organic Beef) are complete feeds. All varieties combine a single type of meat with a carbohydrate source, vegetables, vegetable oils, organic eggshells, organic kelp and nutritional additives. These additives are a precisely calculated mixture of minerals, trace elements and vitamins of the purest laboratory quality, designed to meet the nutritional requirements of adult dogs.

Nutritional additives in organic dog food? A sign of quality!
Nutritional additives are minerals, trace elements and vitamins that are added to a food mixture to ensure that a dog's daily nutritional requirements are met. The exact composition must be calculated according to the variety and adapted to the respective ingredients in order to prevent an undersupply or oversupply of nutrients. Only if a ready-made food fully covers a dog's daily nutritional requirements can it be described as a complete food - in the case of canned food, this can generally only be achieved by adding nutritional additives. All five LILA LOVES IT wet food menus contain nutritional additives. That's why we can call them complete foods, because they provide all the nutrients that adult dogs need for a healthy life. The essential additives are vitamin A, vitamin D3, copper, manganese, zinc and selenium. These vitamins, minerals and trace elements could not be provided to the body in sufficient quantities by other ingredients such as fruit or eggshells alone. Important nutrients are also lost during the cooking process, which is necessary for preservation. Nutritional additives are therefore an absolute must for us in order to guarantee a balanced diet.

Meat content in dog food - less is more
Meat provides protein (amino acids), vegetables and fruit mainly provide fiber, carbohydrates provide energy. In general, it can be said that there is no general rule for the ratio of meat, vegetables and carbohydrates in a feed ration or in a Complete food. However, veterinary and nutritional practice shows that too much meat can lead to complaints such as an acidic stomach. A high meat content should also be viewed critically from the perspective of animal ethics and environmental protection. LILA LOVES IT's Complete food has a moderate meat content because we are not only concerned about the welfare of dogs, but also about animal welfare and protecting the planet. It is important to note that the meat content in LILA LOVES IT's wet food menus covers the entire amino acid requirement of adult, healthy dogs.
