Chronic renal, cardiac and hepatic insufficiency, urolithiasis, for cats.

+ Indications:

• Chronic Renal insufficiency
• Liver insufficiency (except cholestasis patients)
• Congestive heart failure, hypertension, edema
• Urate, oxalate or cystine stones

- Contraindications:

• Pregnancy, lactation, growth.
• Cats with struvite urolithiasis

Properties:

Phosphorus content is reduced to prevent hyperphosphatemia and slow the progression of Renal insufficiency.

EPA and DHA are omega-3 fatty acids that help slow the progression of Renal insufficiency in cardiac patients. In cats with heart disease, EPA and DHA promote the maintenance of body muscle mass, appetite, normal blood pressure and platelet aggregation. SPECIFIC® FKD Kidney Support has an exceptionally high content of fish oil and therefore EPA and DHA.

The reduced protein content, combined with the high biological value of the proteins, reduces azotemia in kidney patients. In cats with liver insufficiency, the likelihood of hyperammonemia and possible hepatic encephalopathy is also reduced. The high-quality protein ensures that the patient's need for essential amino acids is adequately met.

Reduced sodium excretion is part of the compensation for the reduced stroke volume in congestive heart failure. This leads directly to increased sodium and water retention. The reduced sodium content helps to break this vicious circle of water retention (hypertension and edema), which is essential for kidney, liver and heart patients.

The low protein content reduces the urine concentration of oxalate, cystine and urate. The induced, slightly alkaline urine pH value combats the precipitation of calcium oxalate, cystine and urate crystals and supports a healthy urinary tract. The added potassium citrate helps to keep calcium oxalate in solution.
