• Positive result: If the test is positive for Giardia, we strongly recommend that you take the test and a recent fecal sample to your veterinarian. A positive result indicates an existing infection that requires specific treatment by your vet.
• Negative result: A negative test result does not always completely rule out a Giardia infection. If your pet continues to show typical diarrhea symptoms or you suspect Giardia, it is advisable to repeat the test and have a veterinary examination carried out. Giardia is not always excreted continuously, which can lead to false-negative results.

• Specificity of 98.1 %: The test correctly identifies healthy animals. False positive results, where a non-infected animal tests positive, are extremely rare (1.9%).
• Total test accuracy (TTP) of 96.7 %: Rely on a result that correctly reflects the actual situation in over 96% of cases.

Important information for optimal test results

To ensure the best possible validity of the test, please note the following points:

• Collect samples over three days: To increase the probability of detection, it is advisable to collect fecal samples on three consecutive days, as Giardia is not excreted continuously.
• Correct test procedure: Make sure you follow the instructions exactly, especially with regard to the sample quantity. An insufficient or excessive sample quantity can impair the functionality of the test.
• Excretion cycle: False-negative results can occur if the Giardia are not actively excreted at the time the sample is taken.
