Catsan - Clumping and non-clumping cat litter

Catsan cat litter is one of the most popular in Europe. The litter is characterized by very good acceptance, excellent absorbency and thus odour suppression and particularly high yield. ^CATSANTM Natural is made from wood and wheat and is 100% biodegradable and compostable.

Clumping or non-clumping cat litter
Catsan has clumping and non-clumping cat litters in its range. Both have advantages and disadvantages. Which is more suitable depends not least on your cat's preferences. The advantages and disadvantages of clumping and non-clumping cat litter are summarized below:

Non-clumping cat litter
Non-clumping litter, such as CATSAN™ Hygiene Litter Plus, absorbs a large amount of liquid and traps odors. This means that the litter box will stay fresh for up to a week if the droppings are removed daily (if you use CATSAN™ - litter of lesser quality needs to be changed every few days). Once a week, however, the litter box must be completely emptied, cleaned and then refilled with fresh litter.

Non-clumping cat litter is also slightly lighter and is preferred by some cats because of its texture. It is also the best litter for young cats under 12 months as the litter is less likely to cause problems if eaten, and young kittens naturally tend to eat everything in sight.

Clumping cat litter
Clumping litter forms a solid clump around urine or feces so that it can be easily removed without having to empty the entire litter box. The amount of litter removed should be refilled immediately. The litter box therefore needs to be thoroughly cleaned less often compared to litter boxes with non-clumping litter. However, it should still be borne in mind that cats are very concerned about cleanliness and have a highly developed sense of smell. It is therefore important that the litter box is always kept in immaculate condition, even when using clumping litter.

Why a hygienic litter box is important
Cats can sometimes be very picky. This means that if they are not happy with their litter, they will be stressed and may not use the litter box at all. Therefore, when changing litter, always remember to get your cat used to the new litter slowly by gradually mixing the new litter with the old litter.
