Optiballast Enteral has a prebiotic effect and supports the development of a healthy microbiome in dogs and cats! It consists of 100 % plant fibers cellulose, psyllium and pectin. All three are considered dietary fibers. Dogs and cats have no endogenous enzymes to break down dietary fiber. However, pectin can be broken down by intestinal bacteria in the large intestine, producing volatile fatty acids. The fatty acids formed are partially absorbed via the colon mucosa and have a positive effect on the intestinal mucosa. This leads to faster regeneration of the intestinal cells.
