Wolves know what's good for them! With "meat, offal, bones, skin and hair" they eat their prey whole, leaving very little behind. If you feed your four-legged friend whole prey, you are doing everything right.
If you supplement your own BARF rations of meat, offal and bones with a suitable food supplement, you are also doing everything right. Vitamin Optimix barf prevents vitamin and mineral deficiencies in raw feeding.

Quality in the food bowl.
The premium mineral and vitamin supplement Vitamin Optimix Barf is a proprietary product from Futtermedicus. High quality, highly concentrated and easy to dose as a fine powder. Due to the high concentration of minerals and vitamins, the food supplements are very economical to use.
Vitamin Optimix Barf is very well accepted by dogs in terms of taste and smell. Recommended by vets - for nutrition-conscious pet owners who want to feed their pet individually. Barfen the right way!

Energy requirements may vary from person to person, so the quantities of food may differ from the recommendation.

Meat can be fed raw, roasted or cooked, although there is a risk of infection with raw meat. You can use meat such as beef, lamb, chicken, turkey; possibly horse, goat, kangaroo. Please ensure that at least two types of meat are not fed in case an elimination diet is required later. There is an increased risk of infection with raw feed. Meat does not have to be fed raw, only minor nutrient losses occur through cooking or roasting. Pork should never be fed raw. In principle, variety is possible if it is well tolerated. Raw fish should not be fed raw more than once a week, otherwise it can lead to vitamin B1 deficiency.

Offal can be used instead of meat, but the proportion of offal in the meat should not exceed 30%. Rumen, gizzard, spleen, heart, udder, lungs and kidneys are suitable. Due to its high vitamin A content, liver should be fed at a maximum of 10 g per 10 kg of dog. Feeding offal is not necessary with this feeding plan, but is possible.

The proportion of bones should not exceed 15 % of the total ration. Meaty bones such as chicken, turkey or duck necks, meaty oxtail or lamb ribs are particularly suitable.

Vegetables can be fed raw (finely grated/pureed) or cooked. Please do not feed onions, garlic, grapes, raisins and avocado. Flakes are also possible instead of fresh vegetables and fruit.

In order to provide all the nutrients your dog needs, the following supplements are also required:

Salmon and wheat germ oil are necessary to cover essential fatty acids. A suitable oil mixture (e.g. Futtermedicus Optinature Fellglanz Barf Öl) is also possible. At least 0.2 - 0.5 grams of oil should be given per kg body weight, of which 1/4 should be salmon oil and 3/4 wheat germ oil (example 10 kg dog: 2 - 5 g oil, of which 0.5 - 1.25 g salmon oil and 1.5 - 3.75 g wheat germ oil).

Algae lime provides calcium and magnesium and ensures a balanced calcium-phosphorus ratio.

For an adequate supply of vitamins A and D, it makes sense to add cod liver oil . If cod liver oil is used, it should contain approx. 1100 I.U. vitamin A and approx. 130 I.U. vitamin D per gram. A dog has a daily requirement for vitamin D of approx. 20 I.U./kg and a daily requirement for vitamin A of approx. 150 I.U./kg.

To begin with, add the mineral powder to the food in small portions over 4-5 days. Please do not heat, but mix into the cooled feed ration. Always add the mineral powder fresh to the ration.

Grüezi. Ich barfe meinen Hund. Konnte bislang reines RIndmuskelfleisch bestellen. Was würden Sie mir empfehlen? Danke und liebe Grüsse
Your iPet team

Your iPet team
