Prima Home Giardia Pet Test

Giardiasis is an infectious disease caused by the parasite Giardia lamblia and can affect dogs as well as cats and humans, leading to inflammation of the intestines. It is a fairly common disease that is transmitted through contact with the stool of infected animals. Successful treatment also requires measures to decontaminate the pet's environment to prevent re-infection. It is important to note that many cases of perceived drug resistance are actually due to reinfection, so proper follow-up is crucial.

The test is useful for anyone who wants to check for the presence of the parasite in animal feces. The main symptoms are

  • Diarrhea
  • Defecation with mucus
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Weight loss

The Giardia Pet Test detects Giardia antigens in your pet's feces and provides information on whether further treatment by your veterinarian is necessary. If the test is positive for Giardia lamblia, please take the test and the fecal sample to the vet.

If the test is negative , this does not necessarily mean that your four-legged friend is not affected by a Giardia infection. If your pet shows typical diarrhea symptoms, it may therefore be advisable to repeat the test and have it examined by a vet.
