ROYAL CANIN® Urinary S/O is a balanced and nutritious formula specifically formulated to help dogs with urinary problems such as struvite crystals and stones.

Dogs with lower urinary tract disorders should be treated with a diet that promotes urinary organ health. Diseases of the urinary tract can lead to the formation of urinary stones in dogs (including struvite and calcium oxalate). ROYAL CANIN URINARY S/O has been developed for the supportive treatment of cystitis and urinary stone disease.

Scope of application of Urinary S/O Loaf :

• Dissolution and prophylaxis of struvite stones
• Calcium oxalate urinary stones: prophylaxis
• Bacterial cystitis: management of secondary struvite crystalluria (in conjunction with adequate antibacterial therapy)

Not suitable for:

• Chronic Renal insufficiency
• Heart disease (with recommended sodium restriction)
• Use of uric acidifying substances
• Growth, pregnancy and lactation

The URINARY S/O Loaf diet has the following objectives:

• moderately acidify the urine (pH 5.8 - 6.2) to prevent and dissolve struvite stones without increasing the risk of calcium oxalate formation
• controlled levels of certain minerals to undersaturate the urine with urinary stone formers (low RSS value)
• increase the daily urine volume (prophylaxis of struvite and calcium oxalate stone formation)

The mode of action of ROYAL CANIN URINARY S/O Loaf:

Dissolution of struvite
The mixture of nutrients contained in this formula helps to dissolve struvite crystals and stones that can form in the bladder.

Urine dilution
This food dilutes your dog's urine, making the formation of struvite and calcium oxalate stones more difficult.

Low RSS value
This formula has a low RSS value (relative supersaturation). This reduces the concentration of ions and prevents the formation of urinary stones.

S/O Index
ROYAL CANIN® Urinary S/O also creates a urinary environment that impedes the formation of struvite and calcium oxalate stones.

Duration of treatment
The diet must be administered for 5 to 12 weeks to dissolve struvite crystals/stones. In cases of urinary tract infections, the diet should be fed for one month after the first negative urinalysis. To reduce recurrence of struvite stones for up to 6 months. The dog should then be seen regularly by the vet to decide whether to continue the diet for life.

Important note
This product is a veterinary diet from the ROYAL CANIN® Veterinary Health Nutrition range. It is therefore important that the food is only fed on the recommendation of a veterinary surgeon. This will ensure that your pet receives exactly the food it really needs.

A change in diet should be made carefully and gradually over a period of 7-10 days. Pay attention to the correct portion size - especially with mixed feeding.

Mixed feeding possible
To meet the individual preferences of all dogs, ROYAL CANIN® Urinary S/O wet food is also available with fine pieces in gravy or as dry food with crunchy kibble. Mixed feeding gives the food different consistencies, which can stimulate the appetite. Wet food has a more intense aroma and its moisture content helps to regulate the animal's water balance. Dry food, on the other hand, is easier to absorb and good for the teeth.
