The probiotic digestibility promoters in equiGAST® support the body's own microflora and also support the formation of the mucous membrane. This reduces the strain on the gastric mucosa and internal organs. The herbal ingredients in equiGAST® have an anti-inflammatory and soothing effect on the gastrointestinal tract. The live, coated Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeasts (probiotics) can have a positive effect on the barrier properties of the intestinal wall and can raise the pH value of the intestinal environment to a healthy level. These are non-reproducing live yeasts and do not cause flatulence or colic. equiGAST can therefore increase the usability of nutrients in concentrated feed. This supports and strengthens the intestinal walls and the immune system.

Sodium alginate and calcium carbonate develop a viscous, mucus-like foam on contact with stomach acid, which floats on the stomach contents and thus keeps the aggressive stomach acid away from the irritated stomach lining and any lesions. Nevertheless, new stomach acid is not prevented from taking up its digestive effect. Food can be broken down without restriction and proper absorption in the intestine is ensured.
